Welcome to a new episode of Field Trip, the podcast series from Natural Capital.

Today we’re talking all things koalas in Canberra.

You may have wondered why you haven’t seen a koala in the wild in Canberra. Unfortunately, they’re presumed locally extinct. However, within the Sanctuary at Tidbinbilla, there’s work being done to restore the koala population, and a visit will get you up close and personal with some of the species’ ambassadors. If you’re really lucky, a walk around the Koala Path loop might grant you a sight of one of the free ranging population.

So that’s where we’re headed today! On this first episode of the Field Trip podcast, you can learn about the history and current status of koalas here in Canberra and come with me as I explore the Koala Path myself.

Let’s get wild!

Lizzie is a born and raised Canberran with a passion for nature, particularly wildlife. She’s spent several years exploring and photographing everything wild that Canberra has to offer.
